The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
This position will be located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in our Bureau of Disability Adjudication office. This position will be filled in either Las Vegas or Carson City depending on the candidate pool. This position works within the Social Security Administration's (SSA) framework. This position requires experience in network administration, desktop computers, servers and familiarity with AS-400/i-Series hardware and software. Requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of dealing with WAN/LAN technology, Active Directory and requires demonstrable technical abilities with Windows 2008 and 2012 Exchange server operating systems. Will be responsible for accurately documenting Helpdesk tickets, Software/Hardware installation, procedures, project notes, other IT documentation as needed and inventory control of equipment. This position is responsible for providing customer support in a timely and professional manner to all customers. It requires the timely completion of projects, including planning and communication with all entities involved. A strong technical background is preferable in order to make sound security decisions.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with AS-400 Series / i-Series.
    Experience with Network administration LAN/Ethernet to include network security.
