The Position
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. 
-- Great Basin College is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 position for it's main campus in Elko, Nevada. This position performs general maintenance duties for buildings and grounds such as repair to sprinkler systems, minor repair to buildings, and repair to appliances. The position also performs custodial duties by providing lead work guidance to the custodial crew and performing hands-on building custodial activities. This position performs carpentry, plumbing, painting, Sheetrock repair and electrical work. Additionally, the position will remove snow, perform preventative maintenance on equipment and perform other duties as assigned.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and is required to be on call on weekends (rotation); this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Two years of building, grounds and equipment maintenance experience in performing semi-skilled building/grounds and equipment maintenance work; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid Class C Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience performing basic building maintenance to include the installation and repair of equipment.
    This position requires experience using motor driven tools.
    This position requires working outdoors in inclement weather, as well as working in the sun.
    This position requires the ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds.
    This position requires being on call on weekends (rotation).
    This position is in Elko, Nevada.
