Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned.
This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) Division located in Carson City, NV. The incumbent performs professional level application developer duties including full SDLC processes, maintenance, and application enhancements. All duties are performed in compliance with the EITS Division's application development standards. Incumbents will be required to oversee projects of limited scope; coordinate activities with other groups; train and mentor subordinate staff; and function as a primary point of contact in the absence of their management. Additionally, the IT Professional II will maintain and develop applications for the Department of Administration as well as the Department of Public Safety.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants must be willing to work standby and carry the standby cellular phone for evening and weekend system troubleshooting.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience working within the Software Development Life Cycle.
Experience performing application software problem analysis and solution design for enterprise level applications.
Experience programming in either C# and/or VB.net using Visual Studio 2010 or greater; or the Microsoft DotNet Framework 2.0 or above.
Experience working with SQL Server stored procedures (2008 or above) and/or Oracle stored procedures (10g or above).
The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
