The Position
Pilots fly missions and aircraft which vary with the department to which the position is assigned. Pilots must maintain current certification to fly agency aircraft which may include jets, turboprop single- and/or multi-engine airplanes, rotorcraft helicopter or other equipment owned or leased by the agency.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This position offers a steady weekday schedule with extremely rare overnight stays and weekend flights, and the opportunity to join NDOT's unique Flight Operations team. The position is located in Carson City, Nevada. Carson City blends a mix of shopping, dining, entertainment, culture, nightlife, and old-fashioned western charm. With close proximity to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the area boasts unlimited year-round activities including fishing, boating, hiking, biking, hunting, world-class skiing, golf courses, and many special events. Incumbent acts as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) or Second-in-Command (SIC) of multi-engine jet and turboprop aircraft under FAR Part 91 flight rules; plans and conducts passenger transport and/or aerial photography flights in accordance with NDOT's General Operations Manual and the Federal Aviation Regulations. NOTE: IF SELECTED FOR INTERVIEW YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE COPIES/SCANS OF YOUR QUALIFYING FLIGHT LOGS. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and 4,000 hours logged flight time in single or multi-engine land planes of which 200 hours must have been in actual or simulated instrument conditions, 200 must have been flown the last 12 months, and 2,000 hours must have been as pilot-in-command in multi-engine aircraft. Of those 2,000 hours, 500 hours must have been as pilot-in-command in fixed wing multi-engine turbojet aircraft; or 500 hours as pilot-in-command in fixed wing multi-engine turboprop aircraft.
Special Notes
    Incumbents must successfully complete high altitude physiological training and initial or recurrent flight simulator training for agency aircraft within 6 months of appointment. Continued recurrent flight simulator training is required as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A valid second class medical certificate issued by an authorized FAA medical examiner is required.
    A valid Multi-Engine Airline Transport Pilot's Certificate is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. The hiring agency will pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Candidates for this position will be required to provide copies or scans of qualifying flight logs, if selected for an interview.
    This position requires the incumbent to be currently certified on Citation II, CE-500. A copy of the certification must be attached to the application.
    The position requires the incumbent to have experience in Turbo Commander aircraft, AC690 series.
    This is currently a temporary position. The incumbent must be willing to work in a temporary position.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
