Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
This Licensed Psychologist I position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services - Desert Regional Center in Las Vegas in the Community Adults Services Program. The Licensed Psychologist will work with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and related conditions; such as, Autism, Seizures, Cerebral Palsy and Traumatic Brain Injury. In many cases the individuals served also have co-occurring mental health diagnosis. The LP is responsible for psychological testing and adaptive functioning assessments to determine who is eligible for DRC services including the (ICF/ID) level of care services. The LP will write comprehensive reports which will record findings, observations, and recommendations for treatment plans used to serve the individual. Incumbents will provide psychological consultation services for individuals, families and the clinical team for the purpose of making treatment recommendations. The LP will oversee the development of behavioral support plans for identified individuals served and support staff or families can follow to improve adaptive skills and mitigate challenging behavior. The LP will provide individual/group counseling or psychotherapy to individuals served to help them function more independently in their living situation. The LP will provide crisis management and as requested, serves on committees such as the Oversight Committee on Physical Intervention and Behavior Intervention Committee. The LP will complete projects as directed by Administration that relate to psychology services and attend court as requested on behalf of the agency or individuals when psychological information is required. The LP will also participate in team and clinical meetings to review the status of individuals served.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting. |

Licensed Psychologist I's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment. |

Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
|
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |
|
Experience in Crisis Management of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. |
