The Position
Events Center Technicians direct and participate in the setup and removal of furnishings, fixtures and equipment used for sporting events, ice shows, rodeos and concerts at an indoor arena.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
*THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME, DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.* The major purpose of this position is to accurately and timely provide lighting and audio services for various events at the TMC, COX Pavilion, SBS, as well as the Athletic Facilities. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of analog and digital audio consoles, power amps, PA cabinets, speaker systems, assisted listening devices, microphones, patch bays and XLR cabling; the operation and maintenance of analog and digital lighting consoles, PAR cans, PAR bars, lekos, automated lighting, DMX cabling, Socoplex cables, and various types of spot lights; and the operation and maintenance of in-house closed circuit TV systems, crimping, running and installing coaxial cables, inventory and placement of flat screen monitors as required per event. The schedule will start as a Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm and will be posted every two weeks. EEO/AA/Vet/Disability Employer.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of skilled work experience in setting and striking sets at a major events center with sophisticated sound and lighting systems. One year of this experience must have included coordinating the work of others in the setting and striking of sets; OR two years of experience as an Events Center Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Additional Position Criteria
    Candidates must possess technical knowledge of procedures and operations for live shows and ability to troubleshoot audio and/or lighting problems as they arise during events to insure the successful completion of the event.
