The Position
Health Program Managers provide administrative direction for programs related to maternal, child and family health, nutrition, disease control, or other health programs.
Health Program Manager II's supervise both supervisory and professional staff engaged in provision of health-related services and are responsible for long range, broad-based planning and policy development for a statewide program.
This Health Program Manager II position serves as the Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion (CDPHP) Section Manager in the Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness, Division of Public and Behavioral Health located in Carson City, Nevada. The overall purpose of the position is to manage and oversee staff across multiple programs, including: Diabetes Prevention, Tobacco Prevention and Control, Obesity Prevention, School Health, Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention, Community Health Worker Program, and Breast, Cervical, & Colorectal Cancer Screening. Functions include: staff management, grant management, report design and development, program evaluation, community collaborations, and fiscal oversight. The incumbent will be responsible for the design and implementation of the following: engage community stakeholders to design and implement a statewide chronic disease strategic plan; monitor the burden of chronic disease in the state and create relevant policy briefs, white papers, and power point presentation; establishing information sharing between the clinical sector and CDPHP for the purposes of identifying and implementing chronic disease quality improvement initiatives; plan and organize the day-to-day performance of section functions relating to evaluation and epidemiology; clinical and community linkages; policy, systems and environmental changes; health systems interventions; and leadership and capacity.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, human services, social science, behavioral science or related field and four years of increasingly responsible professional experience in a health-related field, two years of which included providing or coordinating the delivery of health care services, budget preparation and control, and the interpretation and implementation of complex regulations. Of the two years of experience, one year must have included supervision of professional staff; OR one year of experience as a Health Program Manager I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
