JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Buyers are responsible for the procurement of major goods, financing and services required by State agencies and political subdivisions.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Carson City, Nevada in the Purchasing Division. It is responsible for issuing solicitations, processing purchase orders, contract management, and communicating with vendors and other State agencies. This position requires high proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. In following with the Department of Administration's mission of providing
exceptional customer service, this position requires a high degree of customer service skill, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally inside and outside the organization. This Buyer 2 position underfills a Buyer 3 and may be automatically progressed upon the approval the appointing authority and when minimum qualifications of the higher level have been met.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or closely related field and one year of professional experience in buying, specification writing or related professional purchasing responsibilities; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of purchasing experience, one year of which was at the professional level as described above; OR one year of experience as a Buyer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
