The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Program Officer 2 for Admissions and Records. The incumbent will coordinate the campus curriculum process; manage curriculum workflow via a web-based vendor application; provide administrative support to the University Courses and Curricula Committee; oversee annual departmental and program review/update of general catalog copy; produce both HTML and PDF editions each year; insure approved changes are appropriately encoded in PeopleSoft course catalog; identify proposed changes that impact transfer agreements and work with departments to revise agreements; coordinate compliance with NSHE Common Course Numbering guidelines; extract, analyze, and reconcile course record reports across multiple systems; maintain program website; and develop and maintain system documentation, training materials, policies and procedures.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field and one year of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR one year experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and five years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination

PROGRAM OFFICER 2 (07.647) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
1) Do you have professional level customer service experience which included handling complaints/concerns, and resolving conflicts: A) in a public sector setting; B) in a private sector setting? If so, please describe your experience.
2) Do you have program experience in the following areas: A) planning a program; B) developing a program including developing guidelines and procedures; C) evaluating and analyzing a program? If so, please describe your experience in each.
3) Do you have experience writing formal reports, newsletters or directives? If so, please describe your experience. Please include time frames for this experience.
4) Do you have professional public relations experience with: A) community organizations and public contacts; B) community education and outreach? If so, please describe your experience with each including time frames.
5) Please describe your conflict resolution experience in the following areas: A) handling customer complaints; B) serving on an advisory committee, task force, and/or panel with responsibility to hear and resolve conflicts; C) managing staff/employee issues.
6) Describe your experience supervising employees.
