The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
This recruitment is for an Accounting Assistant II vacancy with the Fiscal Services Section in Reno. This position will support the business office in its responsibilities to manage the agency's financial resources. The position is assigned to the Fiscal Services team with responsibilities including: A) Preparing travel and employee reimbursements for personnel located statewide; B) Prepare and process accounts receivable documents; Review accounting system reports for accuracy and make corrections such as coding to ensure compliance with clearly established guidelines; D) Creating and/or maintaining Excel spreadsheets (including formulas) to organize, display and summarize data; E) Facilitating travel claims and reimbursements; F) Entering payment vouchers in the State Financial System; G) Maintain the Inventory/Property Management records; and H) Approve statewide personnel timesheets. The person appointed to this position must be able to determine the priority of assignments and structure tasks to accomplish the administrative goals within established schedules and timelines, to make decisions that impact several work units of the agency and ensure the quality of documents submitted and services provided.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Examination

CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
