Under general direction of the Division Administrator of the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), the Deputy Division Administrator plans, organizes and develops the Statewide Highway Safety Plan (HSP), Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP), Highway Safety Communications Plan (HSCP) and other statewide highway safety programs and/or projects; provides direct oversight of the Division's sub-grant projects and programs as assigned.
The Deputy Division Administrator of the Department of Public Safety's Office of Traffic Safety functions as the Chief Operating Officer, managing
people, programs and processes for a small agency with big impact. The Office of Traffic Safety supports statewide and local
programs designed to improve safety and awareness of safe behaviors and meet Nevada's goals of Zero Fatalities on our roads.
Desirable skills and qualifications for the Deputy Administrator include fiscal planning and tracking, ability to communicate and
collaborate effectively, manage daily operations and supervise professional staff, evaluate and improve processes, analyze and
apply regulations, grant requirements and relevant data, and effectively execute business plans. This position reports to the Division Administrator and may be filled in either Las Vegas or Carson City depending on the person selected. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration or closely related field and five years professional experience in developing, implementing, and managing programs and/or projects on a Statewide and/or federal level which included budgeting; and contract management and/or grant development and oversight experience, one year of which included supervisory responsibility over professional and administrative staff; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration or closely related field and six years' experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
