The Position
Quality Assurance Specialists design and implement a comprehensive quality assurance program encompassing clinical and related disciplines at a mental health hospital, residential care facility or community-based program or service for individuals with intellectual disabilities who may also have significant physical and/or mental health issues [problems], rehabilitation facility, or a clinic which provides outpatient medical and psychological services, or the medical system for the Department of Corrections.
Quality Assurance Specialist III's design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive quality assurance program encompassing community-based programs and inpatient services at a mental health hospi­tal or residential facility for individuals with developmental disabilities who may have significant physical and/or mental health problems.
The Quality Assurance Specialist 3 position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services; Desert Regional Center in Las Vegas. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, and friendly co-workers, and is a great place to work. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. The QA Specialist 3 position is a multifaceted job that is involved with every aspect of agency services. QA Specialist 3 is responsible for supervision of the Quality Assurance Department to include direct supervision of 5 QA 2s, 2 community PN 2s and 2 AAs. Responsibilities include: direction and supervision of the QA department; continued strengthening, development and monitoring of the agency's incident management system; analyzing available data and taking action to facilitate remediation of identified issues; certification of contracted providers of jobs and day training and supported living services; oversight and approval of special services contractors; directing quality assurance and performance improvement activities to ensure services are provided in compliance with State and Federal regulations and Developmental Services Standards for Service Provision; work closely with state QA team and agency managers in further development of certification standards, policy development, Home and Community Based Waiver Program, etc. in order to further strengthen service delivery systems and facilitate consistency in manner in which regional centers operate statewide. The position requires significant interaction with the community provider network, agency stakeholders and DS staff statewide. Primary duties include:

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, human development, special education, health science, public health, or other behavioral or social science and four years of professional experience, three years of which included increasingly responsible experience performing program evaluation, quality assurance/improvement, and/or utilization review activities for a human services program or agency; OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the majors listed above and four years of increasingly responsible experience performing program evaluation, quality assurance/improvement and/or utilization review activities for a human services program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Notes
    Pursuant to NRS 632, a bachelor's degree from a school of professional nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing is equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    Applicants must meet the federal guidelines for Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) designation at the time of appointment.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
