Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will develop designs and specifications for construction improvement projects; topographic surveying; engineering calculations; production of project plans and specifications; and development of an engineer's material and cost estimates; manage construction, improvement and maintenance projects; manage and monitor consultant contracts; maintain Nevada Division of Wildlife's (NDOW) Water Rights essential to maintenance and function of rearing stations, hatcheries, wildlife management areas and other habitat; maintains and inspects NDOW's dams; conducts NDOW facilities assessment, maintenance and capital improvement program; coordinates NDOW's capital improvement projects with state Public Works Board; assists the Boating Access Program Coordinator through facility assessment; and provides technical and engineering support for Department staff. Position could travel between 3-5 days at a time.

Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
Special Requirements
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
Experience with plans and specifications review is required.
Experience with construction inspection and oversight is required.
Experience with project management is required.
The Examination
Application Evaluation Exam
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

4) Describe your experience submitting Water Rights Applications and Change Applications; surveying for and preparation of water rights maps; submittal of Completion of Work forms, Proof of Beneficial Use form and Requests for Extension of Time; submittal of documentation to change ownership of water rights; Field Inspection of Water Rights means of diversion and place of use; and giving testimony and/or exhibit preparation for hearings before the State Engineer.
5) Describe your experience in dam inspection; compliance with statute and regulation; preparation and filing Emergency Action Plans for significant and/or high hazard dams.
6) Describe your experience in land surveying.
7) Describe your experience with Universal Building Codes and ADA compliance.
