The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services - Sierra Regional Center in Sparks, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, and friendly co-workers, and is a great place to work. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. The incumbent will provide direct services to children/adults with intellectual/disabilities and support teams (e.g., families, service coordinators, school personnel, providers, etc). Services include team consultation and counseling; facilitating positive behavior support; individual, family and group therapies; and behavioral interventions. Duties include conducting formal assessments using standardized techniques that inform eligibility for services, conducting functional behavioral assessments, developing and delivering trainings, and evaluating outcomes and quality of life. Emphasis is placed on supporting a collaborative team process using person-centered planning and working closely with service coordinators and private community providers to build capacity of support teams and collaborating service agencies. The MHC III position is responsible for supervision and assumes a leadership role in oversight committee work and service delivery. Though licensure is not required, preference will be given to persons who hold current certification/licensure (e.g. BCBA, LCSW, MFT, LPC) or who are license/certification eligible.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and three years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
