Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services, located in Elko, NV. The incumbent will be responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring and maintaining desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, mobile hand held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. Additional duties include monitoring networks, fixing PCs, providing quality customer service and assisting with Help Desk user support and server operations. Extensive travel is likely when remote control tools or phone calls won't solve the problem.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. |

Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, configuring, and installing computer software and hardware in an Enterprise environment. |

Experience assisting staff in off-site locations using remote control software. |
|
Windows Operating Systems; Microsoft Office Suite; Antivirus and Firewall Software; Help Desk ticketing software. |

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
