Therapeutic Recreation Specialists perform initial and periodic assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic services to assist individuals in correctional institutions, rehabilitation programs, long-term care facilities, residential facilities, mental health facilities and facilities for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to improve their mental and physical health and/or social functioning.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Incumbent will be working an innovative variable schedule, with overtime after 40 hours per week.
This position supports SOUTHERN NEVADA ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (SNAMHS). Agency positions may be assigned to any SNAMHS work location and any shift. This position is initially being assigned to the Rawson Neal Psychiatric Hospital located at 1650 Community College Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89146. Our Agency's mission is to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in therapeutic recreation, recreation, or specialty area, such as art, dance, music or physical education and one year of full-time technical experience in recreation therapy in a clinical, residential, or community-based organization; OR certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC); OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
