Health Care Coordinators perform professional work related to Medicaid program operations and auditing providers to ensure compliance with program policies and regulations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Health Care Coordinator I serves within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy of the Department of Health and Human Services at the Las Vegas District Medicaid Office. This is the entry level in the series and progression to the journey level may occur upon successful completion of the probationary period, meeting the minimum qualifications, with the recommendation of the appointing authority.
The incumbents primary duty is to assist with the Facility Outreach and Community Integration Services /Money Follow the Person (FOCIS/MFP) program which is responsible for assessing the recipients' needs for Medicaid services and community resources as an alternative to living within an institution.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Licensure as a Social Worker or professional licensure or certification in a medical specialty applicable to the assignment.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Professional licensure or certification as a social worker, nurse or in a medical specialty issued by the appropriate licensing board in the State of Nevada at the time of appointment. Incumbents must maintain professional licensure or certification in their specialty as a condition of continuing employment.
Travel up to 50% of the time is required.
