The Position
Supply Technicians participate in the procurement, receipt, storage, issuing, shipment, property control, inventory, and recordkeeping for a wide variety of assets to include, but not limited to, the following: property, equipment, services, food, forms, parts and supplies. Incumbents work in a warehouse, stockroom or office setting and prepare and process documents for the requisition, purchase, receipt, issuance and transfer of goods; expedite the flow of goods from vendor to user; and maintain control records for a variety of property and equipment.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Purchasing Technician 2 in the Purchasing Department. The incumbent will be responsible for Surplus Property Disposal, Equipment Inventory and General Office Duties. Duties include: maintaining surplus property and equipment databases, adding and deleted equipment as required; managing the surplus property warehouse, scheduling surplus property deliveries; managing monthly surplus sales; printing and distributing annual fixed asset reports and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position may require working evenings and weekends; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of stocking, storeroom or warehouse experience which included purchasing a variety of supplies, equipment and materials, maintaining inventory records, and shipping and receiving materials and equipment; OR one year of experience as a Supply Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires experience determining fair market value of used equipment and vehicles in a business setting.
The Examination

SUPPLY TECHNICIAN 2 (02.824) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

1) Describe your purchasing and/or ordering experience for a wide variety of supplies and equipment. Include the type of item(s) in your description.
2) Describe your inventory experience of a wide range of supplies and equipment as listed in question number one.
3) Describe your experience with shipping and receiving for a large operation or department.
4) Describe your computerized inventory system experience.
5) Describe your experience interpreting federal and State purchasing and property inventory laws, rules and regulations.
