JOB INFORMATION

Staff Research Associates perform or supervise the performance of laboratory and/or field experimental procedures in support of academically-supervised research and teaching in the natural, physical, or social sciences.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Staff Research Associate 3 for the Biology department. The incumbent will coordinate and setup undergraduate course laboratories, including lab preparation, representing a variety of areas of specialization for the Biology Department. This will involve working in collaboration with course instructors (including teaching assistants), breaking down labs when they are done, and maintaining supplies and equipment as needed. The job will also involve training of teaching assistants and making sure that all laboratory activities adhere to all relevant policies and safety at the department, university, state and national levels.
--The typical work schedule is variable weekdays with some evenings and/or weekends; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the required area of specialization and two years of professional experience in a research laboratory; OR one year of experience as a Staff Research Associate II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Additional Position Criteria
This position requires working a variable work schedule, which may include evenings and weekends.
This position requires working with hazardous materials and moving equipment up to 50 pounds.
