The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a full-time IT Technician 5. The position is a shared appointment between the Departments of Art and Music. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of all equipment related to teaching and research in the Digital Media Studio in the Department of Art (80%) and the Electronic Music Studio of the Department of Music (20%). This includes the LAN, all software, desktop systems, networking, laser and inkjet printers, laser cutter, 3D printers, C&C router, flatbed and 3D scanners, basic shop tools, electronics workshop, digital video, cameras, audio recorders and facilitating electronic key code access system for Media Laboratories; purchasing; and updating the Digital Media area and Department of Art websites, and recruiting, training, and supervising student workers.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday. This position may require working evenings and weekends; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires working knowledge of 1) Macintosh and 2) PC based graphic, web, audio, and video applications including a) installation, b) maintenance, and c) configuration.
    This position requires IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of networking operating systems/work group operating systems.
    This position requires experience diagnosing and repairing software problems, installing software updates, or installing and testing new software.
    This position requires knowledge and experience in the field of experimental digital art research and education.
    This position requires working evenings and weekends.
    This position requires knowledge and experience in digital fabrication including 3D modeling, 3D printing and laser cutter.
