The Position
Mental Health Technicians supplement the work of mental health professionals, health specialists, and nursing staff in providing direct client care for clients in a mental health facility.

This position is located in Fernley, Nevada and will provide direct services to clients as assigned and in accordance with the clients treatment plan. Services may include the use of listening skills, observation skills and teaching skills to modify client behavior in the home, community or mental health clinic; teaching activity of daily living skills at home, school or work; peer and/or family support to facilitate the treatment plan; and monitoring of clients for safety and progress. The position will assist clients as assigned to complete application for services or other needs; assist clients in conjunction with the other staff to facilitate client participation/progress in basic skills training; participate in treatment team and staff meetings; and respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies consistent with completed training and supervision.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience, one of which was paraprofessional experience in a hospital, institutional, or residential setting providing care, treatment, training and supervision for individuals with mental illness. In addition, applicants must have completed coursework required while working toward certification in accordance with statute and regulation; OR one year of experience as a Mental Health Technician I or Developmental Support Technician in Nevada State service, and completion of coursework required by statute and regulation.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
