The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
--The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Mineral County is recruiting for a full-time Program Officer 1 in HAWTHORNE, Nevada. Under supervision of the Extension Educator, the position will manage agricultural grant program services and activities to include management of multiple grant program evaluation protocols; grant analysis and reporting; account reconciliation and compliance; marketing and communication; and liaison to staff and stakeholders. Incumbent is required to conduct on-site visits to various program locations.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires knowledge of grant activity and data management.
    This position requires experience reconciling account revenue and expenses.
    This position requires experience collecting, analyzing and reporting program data.
    This position requires experience working with the agricultural community.
    This position requires intermediate experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
    This position requires working occasional evenings and weekends.
The Examination
