JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
This position is in the Special Projects Branch of the Bureau of Industrial Site Cleanup assisting with addressing large, complex remediation projects at the Black Mountain Industrial (BMI) Complex in Henderson, NV. Duties include oversight of environmental remediation projects within the BMI Complex and assisting the Branch Supervisor with oversight of other such projects. Additional duties include oversight of field activities; attendance at public and stakeholder meetings as an authorized representative of the State; review of various technical documents related to characterization, remediation, assessment or risk, etc.; and attending and/or chairing meetings with the responsible parties. The position will require OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training and does require some travel within the State and locality.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
Special Requirements
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with environmental soil and groundwater characterization and investigations, soil and groundwater remediation work plans/designs, and human health risk assessments.
