The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
This position works within the Department of Public Employees Benefits Program (PEBP) located in Carson City, NV as a team lead for the Member Services Unit. The selected candidate will work as part of a team to accomplish common goals such as answering a high volume of phone calls and processing a large number of transactions within a specific timeframe. This position requires the incumbent to sit for long periods of time while using a phone and computer applications of moderate complexity. By thoroughly listening to participants, incumbent provides accurate information regarding PEBP's Master Plan Document, Policies and Procedures, and appropriate sections of Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code. The selected candidate will assist the supervisor and manager with special projects, training, and cross training to other departments within PEBP when needed. The incumbent possesses the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a highly stressful work environment, which includes dealing with difficult participants, high work volume, and tight deadlines. The team lead is responsible to assist walk in participants, answer incoming emails, and prepare correspondence to participants and possibly vendors. The incumbent will be relied upon to assist other team members when needed and possess the ability to work with little to no additional supervision.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience explaining Health Care Benefits and/or Medicare benefits to clients.
The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.

Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
