Development Technicians fabricate, maintain, calibrate, repair and modify a variety of electrical, mechanical and computerized equipment and computer systems used in support of academic research, data gathering, analysis and teaching; and specialize in two or more technical areas such as electronics, mechanical devices or computer systems.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The college of southern Nevada is recruiting for a permanent full-time vacancy located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Development Technician II must be able to maintain, repair, and calibrate all equipment assigned to both Biological Science and Physical Science Departments. They must also coordinate and setup Physics Laboratories. This position will primarily be located at the Cheyenne Campus. The Development Technician II needs to be able to communicate and interact with faculty and staff. They should be able to identify and follow safety procedures applicable to working with sensitive electronics and use of solvents, including other hazardous materials used to maintain equipment. this position reports to the Dean of Science and Mathematics. Preferred Qualifications: Electronic repair background, electronic as well as electro-mechanical experience, microscope repair experience, mechanical repair background, computer experience, design experience, plastics repair, chemistry instrumentation maintenance to include GCMS; machining experience, and have taken a college physics course.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field and one year of experience in the fabrication, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical, mechanical and/or computerized equipment and computer systems; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in electronics or related field and two years of experience in the fabrication, maintenance, calibration, repair and modification of a variety of electrical, mechanical and/or computerized equipment and computer systems; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
