Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This position is located at Valley of Fire State Park, approximately 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas, near Overton, NV. Valley of Fire is an internationally-known, high-visitation park, averaging more than 400,000 visitors per year. The incumbent must possess the skills and ability to function in a fast-paced, high-volume, retail setting.
This position will be the on-site manager of Valley of Fire State Park's day-to-day gift shop operations, and will serve as the direct supervisor of two seasonal or part time positions. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for training new or returning seasonal staff.
Primary job duties include operating and utilizing the Point of Sale (POS) system to: create purchase orders, manage physical inventory, analyze sales data, receive merchandise, and balance received orders to packing slips. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring deposits are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
This position will ensure that the gift shop and the stockroom are kept clean and organized, with product displays being attractive and shopper-friendly. The incumbent will be required to perform basic custodial duties (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, etc.).
This position requires the use of general office equipment, and some knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs. A valid Nevada driver's license is required at the time of employment, and as a condition of continuing employment. This position may be required to work weekends, holidays, and special events.
