Quality Assurance Specialists design and implement a comprehensive quality assurance program encompassing clinical and related disciplines at a mental health hospital, residential care facility or community-based program or service for individuals with intellectual disabilities who may also have significant physical and/or mental health issues [problems], rehabilitation facility, or a clinic which provides outpatient medical and psychological services, or the medical system for the Department of Corrections.

This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services - Sierra Regional Center in Sparks, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, and friendly co-workers, and is a great place to work. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
The QAS II is responsible for carrying out quality assurance and performance improvement activity to ensure services are provided in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as the Developmental Services standards for provision of services.
Frequent interaction with the Sierra Regional Center community providers is required as well as interpretation of state and agency policy. The position provides opportunity to directly participate in development of policy and state regulations governing service delivery.
The incumbent will complete certifications of provider homes to assure safety and welfare of service recipients. They are also responsible for receiving and processing incident reports and serious occurrence reports and providing feedback as necessary. The QA team works closely as a unit, both at the agency level and as a state-wide team to promote consistency in application of policy and service standards.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, human development, special education, health science, public health, or other behavioral or social science and two years of experience, which included one year of experience providing client services in a human services field and one year of performing program evaluation, quality assurance/improvement, and/or utilization review activities for a human services program; OR a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the majors listed above and two years of experience performing program evaluation, quality assurance/improvement, and/or utilization review activities for a human services program; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. |
