The Position
Driver Warehouse Workers receive and store freight, load transporting vehicles, and deliver and pick up supplies, materials, and equipment.
This position is located at the Department of Agriculture, Food & Nutrition Division in Sparks, NV. The incumbent drives tractor-trailer or other delivery vehicles to designated delivery points across northern Nevada. Additionally, this position is responsible for unloading freight to warehouse storage using pallet jack or hand truck; verifying freight against warehouse orders and delivering to designated warehouse storage area. The position also conducts inventory of commodity foods in accordance with established schedules; loads, secures and hauls various types of freight in a safe manner; and delivers and unloads warehouse orders to receiving agencies in accordance with delivery schedules. Some essential functions to this position include frequent bending, crouching, or stooping in loading and unloading material; frequent lifting and placement of objects weighing between 25 to 60 pounds and effectively using a hand truck carrying up to 250 pounds. NOTE: It will be required for the selected candidate to be away from home for up to 5 days at a time due to travel. Agency anticipates this to happen approximately once a month. This position has a more than 50% travel requirement.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of commercial freight delivery experience which included responsibilities for loading freight and operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbents are subject to random testing for drugs and alcohol per Title 49 CFR Part 382 of federal regulations.
Special Requirements
    Driver Warehouse Workers are required to possess a valid commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment.
