Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.

The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for multiple positions for a Mental Health Counselor II located in Fernley, Carson City, Winnemucca, and Pahrump. These positions will be part of the new Rural foster home program approved in the 2015 Legislation. Mental Health Counselors will provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, and behavioral and human services to foster families serving youth by using an evidence-based model. Incumbents will work closely with foster families in the program through weekly in-home visits to address the behavioral and mental health needs of the children placed in the home. The position may also assist with the recruitment and training of prospective foster families who will participate in the program. The programs goals include increasing placement stability and achieving permanency timely for youth in foster care. Incumbents review youth charts, complete assessments, prepare treatment plans, discusses youth and foster families progress/status at case staffing, makes case presentations, make individual and standardized assessments, integrate and analyze information from all available sources, and document quality of care and ensures information is available to other members of the team by completing required forms and reports and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with established laws, regulations, policies and standards of care. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. The positions are full-time with a regular work schedule that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week.
