Public Information Officers manage the public relations and information program for an agency on a statewide basis; write media releases, newsletters, and informational brochures; produce audiovisual presentations and take photographs.
Under the supervision of the Public Information Officer II, this position will produce, write, prepare and proofread media materials including newsletters, digital media, news releases and other promotional publications in print and online for the Department of Agriculture. The position provides assistance on departmental promotions and communications; coordinates and reviews design, graphics, and printing functions; plans, implements, and updates social media; develops strategic communications plans, stakeholder communications and outreach; assists in public outreach and communication planning and management; news media relations and interviews; public service announcements; key message development; and drafts material on department activities or items of interest for presentation at board meetings, conferences, trade shows and promotions.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications or closely related field and two years of professional experience in public relations or public information including writing media releases and newsletters, preparing speeches and multimedia presentations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
