Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
DCFS is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor I located with the Mobile Crisis team in Reno/Sparks, NV. Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This Mobile Crises team triages calls from the community then responds in teams to children and adolescents in acute psychiatric and behavioral crisis within the community. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, home and other community settings. Teams can remain in place for up to 30 days to provide intensive clinical and case management services to these youth and families. The positions will serve as the clinical lead on the response and stabilization team. The mobile crisis team provides and is anticipated to provide services seven days a week. Due to this we have daytime, evening and weekend shifts available. Within 3 months of appointment and as a condition for continued employment candidates must be licensed or in an internship for licensure with the Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers, Nevada Board of Examiners for Marriage & Family Therapy & Clinical Professional Counselors or the Nevada Board of Examiners for Psychologists. DCFS can provide supervision and clinical hours for interns. Licensure must be obtained within 36 months from appointment for continued employment. This is a full time position with a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above. |
