The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
This position is located within District I, Las Vegas Traffic Engineering. Incumbent will assist the District Traffic Engineer by investigating and analyzing traffic flow, traffic control device placement, traffic signals, pavement marking, roadway conditions, and traffic flow patterns to determine and recommend modifications to improve roadway safety. Incumbent will review traffic control plans and studies to ensure proper design standards are being met, make recommendations and request design changes as necessary on overall traffic concepts and phasing for traffic control, and recommend approval or denial of design plans for use on state roadways. Incumbent will also review encroachment permits and conduct traffic impact studies to determine effects on state right-of-way and ensure appropriate safety precautions are addressed. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
    A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
    The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires traffic engineering experience.
    Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
