Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position works within the Department of Administration, Enterprise Information Technology Services Division, Computer Operations program and is located in Carson City, NV. The incumbent will work with enterprise IBM mainframes servers (z/OS); UNIIX base SKYBOT\COSBATCH environment; production of Logical Partitions (LPAR's); as well as using IMB Info 4000/4100 Print high speed printers.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
