JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in the inpatient hospital at Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) in Sparks NV. The incumbent will provide education and leadership while supervising the daily activities, group presentations and therapeutic interactions of front line RN and MHT Staff to ensure a comprehensive treatment program for adults with severe mental illness in an inpatient setting. The incumbent will also collaborate with community referral sources to ensure timely acceptance of patients for care; provide direct nursing care as needed in the inpatient setting and performs first line hospital administrative duties during after hours periods and/or when senior administrative staffs are not present in the inpatient setting. This position may require working evenings, weekends and holidays.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and three years of professional nursing experience, two of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
