The Position
Community Based Instructors conduct a variety of outreach educational programs to individuals and/or groups of people in a variety of community settings, which may include schools, civic and senior centers, camps and other meeting facilities.
--The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Northern Area/Mineral County is recruiting for a full-time Community Based Instructor 2 located in Hawthorne, Nevada. The main purpose of this position is to provide support to Mineral County's non-formal grant-funded educational program for school age youth and the 4-H program. The position will be responsible for recruiting leaders and youth participants, implementing after school programming and collaborating with others to determine program goals. Duties include coordinating various 4-H programs and events, volunteer management, program delivery, leadership council and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
--The typical work schedule is variable weekdays with occasional nights and weekends; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires work experience teaching or instructing in a learning environment.
    This position requires having a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    This position requires intermediate experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
    This position requires intermediate experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
    This position requires experience using Social Media in community engagement.
