JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Conservation Crew Supervisors supervise crews of Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) inmates and/or Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) staff, maintain security, and provide training in equipment use and safety in completing projects in resource conservation and/or fire management.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of logging, construction, ranching or physically active conservation-related experience, two years of which must have been in supervising inmate crews, maintaining security, providing training in equipment use and safety, transporting inmates to job sites, and evaluating inmate skill levels; OR one year of experience as a Conservation Crew Supervisor II including experience in at least five conservation and natural resource program areas such as forest silviculture, forest insect and disease control, vegetation, watershed, and/or range management, riparian enhancement, and wildland fire suppression; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants may be required to pass a through medical examination and physical agility test prior to appointment and for continuing employment.
Possession of a Class B driver's license with air brake endorsement is required within one year and as a condition of continuing employment.
All positions must obtain first responder certification during the probationary period and maintain certification as a condition of employment.

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Applicant is required to undergo a background investigation prior to being considered for employment.
