The Position
Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.
-- The University of Nevada, Reno Facilities Maintenance department is recruiting for a Custodial Worker 2. The incumbent will be responsible for training new and temporary employees, building inspections and supervision of student workers, relief and roving duties, project cleaning and other duties as assigned.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires obtaining a class "C" or higher operator's license within 30 days of appointment.
    This position requires the ability to read, interpret, and follow written and oral instructions.
    This position requires experience leading employees and work flow.
    This position requires working with cleaning chemicals, working from ladders and/or working with both arms extended, working inside and outside buildings, and also clears snow.
    This position requires experience training custodial employees in custodial processes/procedures (e.g. stripping floors, carpet extraction) and equipment (e.g. restroom cleaning machines, carpet extractors, ride-on vacuums/scrubbers).

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
