The Position
Graphic Designers perform a variety of original display and visual design work for a State agency or the Nevada System of Higher Education. Design projects include brochures, catalogs, magazines, books, advertisements, digital/electronic or website presentations, instructional materials, and other printed and promotional materials.
--The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a full-time Graphic Designer 2 for the Nevada Wolf Shop. This position will be responsible for performing a variety of original display and visual design work for the Nevada Wolf Shop, including projects made for marketing and promotional goals along with social media objectives. Duties will include performing the full duties of graphic/web projects, such as brochures, catalogs, print and web advertisements, promotional materials and signs. This includes establishing visual concepts and style necessary to convey the desired visual effect through logos, layout and color; preparing final copy for general grammatical and spelling errors; submitting finished draft to produce press-ready work; and ensuring conformity with University and Athletic design standards and formats. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and fiscal oversight of the Nevada Wolf Shop Graphic department budget, including but not limited to student wages, production expenses and office supplies, and supervising student interns and employees.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    A Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a closely related field with course work in design and production and two years of experience performing graphic arts and design work using graphic software in the design of brochures, catalogs, books, instructional materials and/or publications; OR graduation from high school and four years of experience as outlined above; OR one year experience at a Graphic Designer I in Nevada State service;OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires experience performing graphic arts and design work using graphics software.
    This position requires experience in developing and maintaining department budget.
