The Position
Transportation Planner/Analysts participate in transportation system analysis, a continuing comprehensive and cooperative planning process, research programs or projects, safety programs and/or related functional areas as mandated by, and within the guidelines of, federal, State and local authorities; monitor, develop and implement State and federal funding and programming/planning requirements and ensure compliance with federal funding requirements.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is located in Carson City. Incumbent performs in a trainee capacity to process and analyze short term and continuous vehicle classification/truck weight data; generate monthly and annual traffic statistical reports; answer requests for short term and continuous vehicle classification/truck weight data. This is the entry level classification for the Transportation Planner/Analyst series and is used to underfill the Transportation Planner/Analyst I job classification. Incumbent will progress from the Transportation Planner/Analyst Trainee upon satisfactory completion of the probationary period and meeting the minimum qualifications and with the recommendation of the hiring authority. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business administration, planning, math, geography, economics, statistics, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR graduation from high school and four years of experience collecting, compiling, analyzing and reviewing data and developing reports; OR four years of experience as a Transportation Technician II or three years of experience as a Transportation Technician III in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
    Qualifying experience may be substituted for the education required above the high school level on a year for year basis.
