Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position has approved funding through June 30, 2017. At that time, the position will expire. This position does not have layoff rights.
This position is located in our Las Vegas office within the Motor Vehicle Information Technology Division. This division is comprised of four distinct work groups: Applications, Systems, Production Control and Networks.
This position is responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, mobile hand held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. The position also monitors the network and assists with Help Desk user support and server operations. Travel is likely when remote control tools or phone calls won't solve the problem. The incumbent will also be fixing PCs, monitoring networks, and providing customer service.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
