Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Multiple positions are located within District II, on construction crews in Carson City and Reno. Incumbents will assist the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer maintaining and managing a construction field office and a construction field laboratory, including facilities for materials testing, physical properties of Portland Cement/Concrete, bituminous mixtures, soils and untreated aggregates, physical and chemical properties of treated aggregates; planning, organizing, directing and overseeing the work of technical employees engaged in construction inspection and surveying. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
NOTE: THIS POSITION IS AN UNDERFILL FOR A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER. INCUMBENT MAY MOVE TO THE NEXT LEVEL UPON MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE, AND WITH ENDORSEMENT OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. THIS POSITION MAYBE USED TO FILL SIMILAR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER POSITIONS WITHIN THIS DISTRICT FOR THE NEXT SIX MONTHS.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Incumbent must pass the States Professional Engineering exam prior to the end of the one year probationary period. |

Requires certification as an Engineering Intern. |
