The Position
Sales & Promotion Representatives plan and direct the promotion and sales of books, magazines and merchandise sales catalogs, memberships, public programs, promotional items and/or services.
--The University of Nevada Reno radio station, KUNR, is recruiting for a Sales and Promotion Representative I. The position is responsible for new business/client development, client relations, corporate administrative support, and underwriting revenue collections. The position has the responsibility of generating advertising sales to increase and grow KUNR's sales numbers in support of the station. The position provides sales and administrative support for KUNR to achieve the station's underwriting sales goals, conduct market research on prospective clients, and develops and promotes relationships with existing clients.
--The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, advertising, English, journalism, public relations or related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent education and two years of progressively responsible experience in the sales, marketing and promotion of a product line including writing advertisements and other promotional materials, and the use of direct mail techniques; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires public radio sales experience.
    This postion requires experience with Microsoft Excel.
    This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of employment and as a condition of continued employment.
