The Position
Education Programs Directors, Supervisors, and Professionals assist and foster the growth of early childhood, pre-K, K-12, postsecondary, adult, and related education programs throughout Nevada by providing technical assistance, training, and oversight.
Under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent for Student Achievement at the Nevada Department of Education, the Education Programs Director provides oversight and leadership to guide the work and initiatives of the Office of Student and School Supports (OSSS), based in Carson City, NV. The incumbent provides direct supervision for three Assistant Directors and an Office Manager, and indirect supervision for 18 professional staff members, and four administrative staff members. The OSSS encompasses multiple state and federally-funded support programs including: Title I, Part A; Title I, Part C (Migrant); Title I, Part D (Neglected & Delinquent); Title III; 21st Century (CCLC); GEAR UP; Indian Education; McKinney-Vento HEA; School Improvement; Striving Readers; Turnaround Schools; Victory Schools; and English Learner/Zoom Programs. The Director often travels to represent the Office and the Department at both the state and national levels. The Director also collaborates, and assists all staff members, with a variety of tasks related to program implementation, evaluation, and/or federal and state requirements. As part of oversight, the Director communicates to all stakeholders regarding initiatives and policies that support Office and Department goals and objectives. Through grants management, budget oversight, and monitoring and accountability measures, this position ensures effective use of federal and state funding as evidenced by positive student outcomes. The Director's duties also include continued use of data and information from evaluations and other sources in order to improve outcomes for staff, districts, schools and students. The Department is especially interested in candidates with expertise or direct experience in implementing effective school and/or district improvement strategies in order to support underperforming schools.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    An earned Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or related field and three years of professional experience in an educational program area, one year of which included supervising professional staff; OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in business, economics, education, English, math, nutrition, psychology, science, sociology, statistics, or closely related field and four years of professional experience in an educational program area, one year of which included supervising professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Education Programs Supervisor in Nevada State service.
