The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
-- Western Nevada College is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant 3 for the Business Office. The incumbent will be responsible for Purchasing, Contract Administration, Travel Processing; Back-Up Cashier and Customer Service in a fast-paced business setting.
-- The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding.
    This position requires experience processing travel claims and reimbursements on behalf of other employees in a business setting.
    This position requires experience in Purchasing in a business setting.
    This position requires experience in Contract Administration in a business setting.
The Examination

CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
