The Position
DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in Winnemucca within our Field Services Division. The DMV Technician 4 will conduct commercial and/or non-commercial driving skill tests including problem and high risk drivers; drivers with physical/mental disabilities, and for non - English speaking or limited English speaking drivers; determine applicant's ability to safely operate a vehicle; review test results with applicant; counsel drivers, refer for driver improvement courses; and apply restrictions to driver privilege when appropriate. Additional duties may include first line supervision, or functioning as a subject matter expert in a specified program area. This position requires all DMV employees involved in registering voters must disclose information regarding previous and current felony convictions of theft and/or fraud. NRS 293.504 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles as a voter registration agency. NRS 293.5045 states, a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud. Federal Regulation 49CFR 384.228 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles, Field Services Division, as a CDL testing program and shall not employ a person with any felony conviction within the last 10 years or convictions of any fraudulent activities. DMV also requires an online a pre-employment criminal history check. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. MANDATORY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (only if not a previous DMV Technician) A typing certificate (issued within the last 6 months) must accompany your application and must verify your NET typing speed of at least 30 words per minute. No online typing tests will be accepted. This typing certificate may be attained through any Job Connect office, at no charge.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician III performing a variety of transactions involving standard driver's license and/or registration transactions, vehicle ownership transactions, issuance of duplicate driver's license and/or registration, and assisting new residents in obtaining driver's license/registration; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician III in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as a DMV Services Technician II in a relevant program-specific area.
Special Notes
    Pursuant to NRS 293-5045, a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

    Is your record clear of any convictions of felonies involving theft or fraud?
    Is your record clear of any felony convictions within the last 10 years or conviction of a fraudulent activity?
    Is your record clear of any REAL ID felonies as listed under 49CFR 1572.103?

The Examination
