Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation
of the State's natural resources.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This year-round position will serve as a single point of contact for human wildlife conflict issues in the Southern Region. Triage urban wildlife complaints to determine proper agency response. Educate customers on living with wildlife, reducing attractants, etc. through both proactive and reactive outreach efforts.
Record and maintain data regarding human wildlife conflict including paper and/or electronic databases. Analyze data and provide proper periodic reports.
When determined appropriate investigate and assess damage caused by wildlife to private property or public lands through field investigation and conversations with complainant. Position will document findings and recommend course of action to mitigate or eliminate problem and/or prevent problems from reoccurring.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school and one year of experience in resource
conservation projects or wildlife management projects such as assisting with creel census, surveys, identifying fish and wildlife species, vegetation management or similar work OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid II in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions, camping in remote, primitive locations.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
