The Position
Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation of the State's natural resources.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position works year-round and coordinates the regional Volunteer Program and assists with the Angler Education Program along with other education activities on an as needed basis. Also helps prepare a weekly fishing report. At times, assists with special events, writes for publications, helps with videotaping efforts or radio presentations, and prepares visual aids and equipment, along with assisting with research or other writing projects. This position monitors and coordinates the agency's Volunteer Program in the Southern Region which could entail overseeing the collection of volunteer hours and mileage expended in behalf of NDOW programs, both of which are used as in-kind match for federal funding.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school and one year of experience in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects such as assisting with creel census, surveys, identifying fish and wildlife species, vegetation management or similar work OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid II in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
    Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions, camping in remote, primitive locations.

The Examination

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
