The Position
Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II to be located in Reno, NV. Reno is the largest city in Northern Nevada and is nestled on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in an area called the Truckee Meadows. With excellent weather year round Reno and the surrounding areas provide unlimited indoor and outdoor recreational activities. This includes spectacular Lake Tahoe and the largest concentration of ski facilities in the world are all within a fifty-mile radius. The position is assigned to the DCFS Wraparound In Nevada (WIN) Program and provides intensive care coordination within the statewide Children's Behavioral Health system utilizing the Wraparound Model. DCFS Wraparound Facilitators link families to appropriate resources, facilitate Child and Family Team meetings, and empower families to identify their informal or "natural" supports to participate in case planning. Also completes Strength, Needs and Cultural Discoveries with youth and families, develops individualized care coordination plans, and collaborates with agencies in the community to serve youth and families. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a full time position that includes a variable work agreement that may be scheduled to work hours and days different than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday such as swing shift and weekends, with overtime after 40 hours per week. DCFS also encourages education by providing on-going trainings and paid release time for staff to obtain CEU's. Some positions may also be eligible for an additional 5% Shift Differential pay. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
