The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
*THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.* This position will maintain schedules of all MUS, MUSA, and MUSE courses and all events and facilities use for Beam Music Center and Ham Fine Arts directly under the control of the Department of Music. Incumbent must respond to internal and external facility use requests in a timely fashion. Accurate and up-to-date calendars must be maintained, using Google calendar, and must be available upon demand to all Department of Music faculty and other CFA personnel. Prepare student/faculty recital programs using agreed upon professional standard format. Programs must be accurate, and must be submitted to meet Reprographics' deadlines and to guarantee availability for the event. Incumbent is responsible for determining appropriate facility use fees, invoicing facility users, collecting fees, and maintaining accurate financial records associated with facility use. Patrons must have reasonable estimate of the costs of using our facilities and be invoiced in a timely fashion. Fees must be collected from students and patrons, and the collected fees recorded and deposited according to University and departmental policy. Manage non-financial areas of the Stravinsky (file maker pro database) updating information from events, keys, and MUS 100 files. Process facility requests, key requests, and telephone requests. Accurate updating of news events on the department website and social media. Must demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality in accordance with University policy. The incumbent must complete work assignments with exceptional degree of independence and efficiency and must facilitate cooperation, tact and courtesy with co-workers, students, faculty, staff and the public in the handling of position responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for successful job performance. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Examination
CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
