JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
*THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.* Responsibilities for this position may include reviewing, reconciling, preparing and/or approval of various business documents relating to employee travel, vendor payments, deposits, accounting reassignments, and credit card expenditures; processing departmental cash orders, bank deposits, internal deposit receipts and/or accounts, preparing invoices and applying payments, maintaining an internal computerized accounting system, and researching past due items and monitoring customer accounts; requesting additional back-up materials and/or information and explaining campus and departmental policies and processes; preparing and distributing correspondence, memorandums and special reports; coordinating meetings and special events; maintaining departmental files; and occasionally supervising count room activities performed by part-time staff on event dates. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. May be required to work some variable shifts of evenings and weekends.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of clerical experience, six months of which included accounts payable and/or accounts receivable responsibility; and the use of computer spreadsheets and a calculator by touch; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education supplemented by successful completion of a one-semester college course in bookkeeping or one year of high school bookkeeping and six months of clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Examination

CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
